It's very dangerous to reduce nearly 1000pp in this way, but there is this on page 394:

 

> ... der britische Stamm *tam -, jünger *tav-, wie wir unten sehen werden, eigentlich nichts weiter als ‘Wasser, Fluß’ bedeutet.

 

... the British stem *tam-, earlier *tav-, as we shall see below, really means nothing more than 'water, stream'.

Thank you! It appears to be a wonderful piece of work. But since I read German only very haltingly, could someone please tell me, in a very few words, what Fōrster thinks "Thames" means?
